In partnership with the Indiana Energy Independence Fund (IEIF), the National Energy Improvement Fund (NEIF) provides affordable commercial financing for Indiana businesses, multifamily properties, nonprofits, and government organizations completing qualifying clean energy and energy efficiency improvements.
- Rates: 5.99% up to $150,000, below market-rate financing for projects above $150,000
- Who: Any commercial business, non-profit, multifamily, or government property
- Where: Project must be in Indiana
- Project Size: $2,500 and up
- Terms: 1 — 5 years
- Mechanism: Equipment secured financing

Three Simple Steps For Customers
1. Get a Proposal
Tell your NEIF-Approved Contractor that you’d like to review a monthly payment proposal; or, contact NEIF directly. If you don’t have a contractor selected, find a NEIF-Approved Contractor.
2. Simple Application
Apply online and receive notification of approval typically within three to five business days.
3. Installation
Sign closing documents and work with your contractor to schedule the installation.
Who Qualifies for Financing?
- Eligible borrowers are commercial businesses, multifamily (4+ units), non-profit, or governments in Indiana that meet NEIF’s credit approval standards and are making qualifying improvements.
- Improvements must be installed by a NEIF-Approved Contractor.

2. Propose and Close Projects
Use the NEIF Commercial Finance Portal to propose and close more projects and bigger projects with simple monthly payment solutions.
3. Get Paid!
Contractors paid quickly within one week of project completion and verification.
