The SmartPath program offers rebates that support energy efficiency projects installed by qualified trade allies. Combine those rebates with NEIF financing to offer your customers new efficiency equipment at zero up-front cost. Financing is offered to those who qualify and is not offered by Duke Energy. Financing is solely between National Energy Improvement Fund and the customer or trade ally.

Three Simple Steps For Customers
1. Get a Proposal
Tell your NEIF-Approved Contractor that you’d like to review a monthly payment proposal; or, contact NEIF directly. If you don’t have a contractor selected, Click Here!
2. Simple Application
Apply online and receive notification of approval typically within 2-3 business days.
3. Installation
Sign closing documents and work with your contractor to schedule the installation.
Who is Eligible?
SmartPath is available to all North & South Carolina nonresidential electric customers of Duke Energy and Duke Energy Progress. Companies that have elected to opt-out of the Energy Efficiency (EE) Rider in North Carolina are not eligible. The project must be installed by an authorized Duke Energy trade ally.
What improvements Qualify?
Work must be performed by a NEIF-Approved Contractor.
An authorized trade ally will work with you and find tailored solutions. Your trade ally will confirm all recommended products meet the SmartPath program requirements when developing your project proposal. Any non-eligible products will be identified at that time. The SmartPath team will review the proposed project, provide confirmation of qualification and determine estimated energy savings.

1. Register
You must be registered as a participating trade ally of Duke Energy Smart Path to participate in this program. Learn more here. If you are not already a NEIF-Approved Contractor, Apply Here!
2. Propose and Close Projects
Use the NEIF Commerical Finance Portal to propose and close more projects and bigger projects with simple monthly payment solutions.
3. Get Paid!
Contractors paid quickly within one week of project completion. 50% progress payments typically available upon customer approval.
