The National Energy Improvement Fund (NEIF) is a mission-based lender offering financing for improvements that makes homes and buildings more energy-efficient, healthy, and comfortable. Our team aims to help homeowners (like you!) Go Greener, Affordably.

NEIF is a licensed, multi-state consumer lender who partners with utilities, governments, contractors, and other professionals in the industry to develop affordable financing for eligible home improvement projects. Learn more about NEIF by clicking here. 

NEIF recommends using the Find a Contractor tool on our website, available by clicking here. There you will be able to search by contractor name, proximity (zip code), state, service/specialty, and relevant financing program. 

The terms of your loan will depend on the financing program you apply, and ultimately qualify, for. They are generally available from 1 to 10 years.

This is a simple interest, fixed rate loan.

There will be no lien placed on your home.

While NEIF does not allow cosigners, we do accept co-applicants who also occupy the same property.

The NEIF team recommends that you set up an email account through one of the many free websites available, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail. 

NEIF’s expert lending team reviews all applications received before 3:00 p.m. ET. Submitted documents within one to two business days.

NEIF will pay the contractor directly upon project completion, as well as your satisfaction, when all parties sign off on the completion certificate.

Payments will begin 30 days after NEIF releases funds to the contractor. 

Your statement will be sent out 20 days before your loan payment is due. 

No, NEIF only accepts the following form of payment for your loan:

• Debit cards
• ACH checking account (must provide routing number and account number for relevant checking account)
